“There is nothing more truly artistic than loving people”

The year 2020-21 has been an unfortunate year due to the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic. It has taken a bitter toll on the livelihood of people from all over the world. Moreover, adding to our woes, natural disasters like the Mega-cyclone, Amphan impacted the coastal communities, especially the Sundarbans, in the worst way imaginable. The affected people are hardly getting their basic essential needs of food, clothing, medicine and shelter fulfilled. The chaos ensues till this day as most of those people still haven’t been able to recover back to their old lives yet.

“There is nothing more truly artistic than loving people”

In this grave peril, Suparna Kundu, a budding artist and a student of The Academy of Technology (4th year, CSE), decided to utilize her incredible painting skills to help the people in desperate need. She is selling soft copies of her paintings. The revenue generated will be directly donated to two non-government NGOs, namely, ‘Marudyan’ & ‘Alor Pothyatri’. These two organizations provide essential relief like rice, pulses, sugar, clothes and medicines to the affected communities and areas. They are also working together to repair the damaged or partially destroyed shelters in the natural disaster-affected areas.

It can be really worrying when someone you care about is going through difficult times and today, the combined effect of natural disasters and the pandemic has left many people completely clueless about their own lives. We urge you to step forward and help these people by buying as many paintings, sketches and drawings as possible to raise this funding. We would also request artists and craft-persons to be part of this initiative and spread the network to enlarge and elongate our efforts.

We are still in the baby steps of our journey, and with the help of socially conscious people like you and me, we can help more and more people in this dire situation.
